Conservatory Hearth Press
The soul behind The Linen Pages
Conservatory Hearth Press was born from a simple belief: that the most powerful books are written by women who refuse to choose between their minds and their lives. The Conservatory brings the intentional, elevated standard — scholarly, cultivated, precise. The Hearth brings the warmth — the domestic as art, the woman at the center of her own story.
We are rooted and reaching. We write from the garden to the kitchen, from the hearth to the classroom. Our works explore the grief and growth, from the folktale to philosophy. Come write with us.
Founded by Cynthia Millhorn, M.A., M.A. — storyteller, educator, published author, comedian, fringe theatre creator, and one of the most vivacious performers working today — Conservatory Hearth Press is an independent press dedicated to the female voice in all its forms. Scholarly and hilarious. Warm and wickedly alive. Rich, feminine, layered, and never, ever boring.
The Linen Pages
Tactile · Feminine · Literary
The public-facing heart of the press. Fiction, memoir, folktales, romance, and the female voice in all its complexity. The name on the spine. The front door. Everyday beauty elevated — like linen itself: humble, luxurious, and made to last.
Hearthside
Warm · Rooted · Healing
Where storytelling meets healing. Inspiration, grief and growth, homemaking as art, women's spirituality. Books that hold you the way a good fire does — warm, steady, and honest about the dark.
Conservatory Editions
Rigorous · Elevated · Enduring
Scholarly nonfiction, educational works, academic and literary criticism. The woman who has studied her world — and written it down with precision. Serious work, beautifully made.
Literary fiction & women's fiction
Character-driven, beautifully written stories that center the female experience without apology.
Memoir & personal narrative
True stories told with craft — grief, survival, love, reinvention. The life examined and made luminous.
Folktales & mythic fiction
Stories rooted in oral tradition, reimagined by women's hands. Old magic, new voice.
Inspiration & healing
Books that accompany grief, growth, and the long honest work of becoming. Warm, real, and unafraid.
Romance
Love stories with literary ambition — emotional depth, fully realized women, and an earned happily ever after.
Scholarly nonfiction & essays
Rigorous, beautifully written nonfiction by women who have studied their world and are ready to speak.
We are looking for the books only you could write.
Conservatory Hearth Press welcomes submissions from women writers at all stages of their career. We are especially interested in voices that are underrepresented, stories that are rooted in lived experience, and manuscripts that carry both scholarly depth and human warmth. If your book lives at the intersection of the kitchen to the garden; from the hearth to the classroom — we want to hear from you.

Cynthia Millhorn
A press born from real life.
Opening a book is opening a door into a reality you've yet to experience. Like a dream some parts are familiar; many are not. But one thing is for sure — the words wrap around you and no matter what you are going through, there is a book that can help you feel seen; feel less alone. And if you can't find a book like that, then you should write it — because somewhere someone is waiting or looking for that book!
Reading invigorates the brain, feeds the soul, and expands our understanding. It does not solve all our problems but the author's pen reaches out like an open hand ready to take ours as we walk through grief, joy, and everything in between. Books can be lifeboats on rocking seas and keep afloat even as we feel adrift amid the complicated, beautiful, and often exhausting work of being a woman.
The Linen Pages is a place for the feminine soul to find her voice, express her longings, and work out her struggles. We want books that tell the truth. Works written by women who summon the courage and feel the freedom to write it down.
I started Conservatory Hearth Press because I believe the female voice deserves a home that is both rigorous and warm. Scholarly enough to take it seriously. Human enough to hold it gently. That is what we are building here — one book at a time. Literature and life: intertwined.
