Conservatory Hearth Press was born from a simple belief: that the most powerful books are written by women who refuse to choose between their minds and their lives. The Conservatory brings the intentional, elevated standard — scholarly, cultivated, precise. The Hearth brings the warmth — the domestic as art, the woman at the center of her own story.
We are rooted and reaching. We write from the kitchen and the classroom, from the grief and the garden, from the folktale and the footnote. Our books smell like woodsmoke and old paper — and they last.
Founded by Cynthia Millhorn, M.A., M.A. — storyteller, educator, published author, and fellow traveler in grief — Conservatory Hearth Press is an independent press dedicated to the female voice in all its forms. Rich, feminine, layered, and real.

Conservatory Hearth Press welcomes submissions from women writers at all stages of their career. We are especially interested in voices that are underrepresented, stories that are rooted in lived experience, and manuscripts that carry both scholarly depth and human warmth. If your book lives at the intersection of the kitchen and the classroom — we want to hear from you.
